The Planning Institute of British Columbia is a membership-based professional organization, with opportunities for professional practitioners in the planning field, students and others alike to join or get involved.

IMPORTANT NOTE: As part of the Planning for the Future project PIBC, in cooperation with CIP and our affiliated professional planning associations across Canada, has undertaken a major review and renewal of our Membership criteria, requirements and processes.

Substantial changes to the requirements for professional Membership and the process taken by membership applicants have resulted from this project. The changes are to take effect as of July 1, 2012. As a result PIBC is currently no longer accepting new applications for Candidate (formerly Provisional) membership. Under the new processes, applications for new members will first be received & reviewed by the new national Professional Standards Board (PSB) for the planning profession in Canada - beginning after July 1st.
